TicketSource has reached double digits at last! The single years have quickly passed...
On Friday, 13 February 2004 (there are no superstitious types around here!), the power switch was flicked on at TicketSource towers and our ticketing solution came into being, revolutionising the way in which organisers of events large and small could sell tickets online 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Customers' purchasing habits have changed greatly over the past 10 years, with the ability to buy event tickets online being an accepted expectation nowadays.
And while TicketSource has established itself as the most versatile free, easy to use online ticketing solution, here are some news stories from this day in February 2004 which didn't quite materialise...
- Visa fashions new look with mini card: The credit card, less than half the size of ordinary plastic, is designed to be worn around the neck, attached to a mobile phone or used as earrings.
- Euro threat to BACS bank system: The company behind Britain's multi-billion pound direct debits and standing orders system risks being frozen out as European banks push for a single computer network to handle all payments across the eurozone.
- Cloning? It's moral madness: We have had a robust and, as yet, unresolved debate in this country about genetically modified foods. With news of the breakthrough in so-called 'therapeutic cloning', we are on the verge of GM human beings.
We would like to say a very big thank you to event organisers new and old for supporting us during our first 10 years, and we very much look forward to sharing our journey with you all during the next 10.
